Description
Uses :
- Glyphosate is effective in killing a wide variety of plants, including grasses and broadleaf and woody plants. By volume, it is one of the most widely used herbicides.
- Glyphosate binds tightly to soil. It can persist in soil for up to 6 months depending on the climate and the type of soil it is in.
Formulation :
Glyphosate-based formulations may contain a number of adjuvants, the identities of which are considered trade secrets. Surfactants are used in herbicide formulations as wetting agents, to maximize coverage and aid penetration of the herbicide(s) through plant leaves.
The acute oral LD50 in the rat is 5,600 mg/kg. Other oral LD50 values for glyphosate are 1,538 to greater than 10,000 mg/kg for mice, rabbit’s mg/kg, and goats.
Glyphosate uses directions :
- Glyphosate has low toxicity for humans.
- Protective eye wear is recommended for the few products that may cause eye irritation.
- Entry into agricultural fields is allowed 12-hours after application of these products.
